Yield farming is a type of investment whereby crypto is locked in a dApp (decentralized application) in exchange for token payouts. Farmers of yield put their tokens into DeFi programs for use in lending, borrowing, and cryptocurrency trading. These investors are known to as liquidity providers because they increase the liquidity of the dApp they have chosen.\
